Message First block went bad at 1,000 miles, I was then charged 900$ to "replace bearings and repair crankshaft"

Second block 10,000 miles with a 5,000+ break in

i tore down then engine and this is what I found on my #3 rod. I took it straight to the machine shop. This bearing was not spun because I picked up on the noise before it spun.

only #3 rod bearing looked like this, all others perfect.

Every SGP engine failure i have heard of has been a spun bearing or rod knock( a bearing soon to spin), i have not heard of any other type failure from them. It is possible that it has to do with the regrinding of the crankshaft, even improper bearing selection, or improper torquing of the rod caps.

recently in the classified there was a SGP engine for sale with a spun bearing so thats another one. But as always its hard to find who is accountable the machine shop, builder, driver.

Only once i have seen a vg30de machine shop ( WestSide performance ) take accountablity for failure only cause it was cornered with a crankshaft balance 85grams off. Pretty obvious at 2000rpm, cant really cover that up.
